The history of lace knitting in Haapsalu dates back almost two centuries. During this time many Haapsalu ladies who love handigraft have become fascinated by knitting airy lace patterns. Over many years Aasa has knitted more than one thousand and three hundred shawls and scarves, most of them with patterns she has crated herself or wiht combined designs.

All the shawls and samples in this book have been knitted by Aasa herself. The shawls in the photos are modeled by local girls in the cosy cafes of Haapsalu.
